About the Project

The Lighthouse is a therapeutic art project by Rays of Light, in collaboration with JAR Old Jaffa.

The project, led by curator and initiator Dana Dvorin, gives space and voice to the stories of courage of women from the events of October 7, and to the women and communities who chose to keep moving forward with strength and hope after the darkness they went through.

The Lighthouse is a deep, intimate journey undertaken by artists from the Nova community and bereaved families. It creates a space to look directly at pain, darkness, and loss—while also searching for the inner light that remains, or struggles, to shine.

Over approximately ten days, the participating artists took part in a process that inspired their creations. They met with artists for meaningful conversations, experimented with various materials, and collected tools from the worlds of creation, writing, and therapy.

With professional support—both emotional and artistic—the participants created works that speak of this journey: of survival, hope, and the ongoing effort to ignite and radiate their own private inner lighthouse, for themselves and for society at large.

The Lighthouse illuminates the moments we wish to expose and commemorate in the ongoing journey of coping that began on October 7, 2023. The exhibition presents powerful testimonies from women who survived the horrors, alongside multidisciplinary visual installations that offer a glimpse into their emotional journey from that terrible Saturday until today.
